Pyatnitskaya Street is one of the oldest streets in Zamoskvorechye, in the Central District of Moscow. It appeared at the end of the 15th — beginning of the 16th century and was part of the old Moscow road leading south — to Ryazan, Tula, and Serpukhov. In those days, it was called Bolshaya Street (Big Street). Its current name comes from the Church of St. Paraskeva Pyatnitsa, first mentioned in chronicles in connection with the Moscow fire of 1564.
