Savvinskaya Embankment is located on the left bank of the Moskva River in Khamovniki, between Rostovskaya Embankment and Novodevichy Drive. Like Savvinsky Lanes, the embankment was named at the beginning of the 20th century after the patriarchal settlement of Savvino, which belonged to the Savvinsky Monastery and was located here from the 15th to the 17th centuries. It is first mentioned in the 1454 will of Pyotr Dobrynsky, who bequeathed the "monastery of St. Savva to the Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia.
