The Heilig-Geist-Kirche (Church of the Holy Spirit) is one of Munich's oldest churches and holds a prominent position near the bustling Viktualienmarkt, the city's famous open-air market. The origins of Heilig-Geist-Kirche date back to the 14th century. Initially, it was part of a hospice founded in the 13th century to care for the sick and needy. The original Gothic structure was constructed between 1392 and 1398, serving both as a hospital chapel and a parish church.
