It was around 8 am when we started heading down to the local pond with ice skates in hand. It had been cold all week, so we knew the pond would be frozen over. We were right. We spent the next hour skating all around the frozen pond. We decided to rush off when the ice began to crack. No unexpected cold swims for us. Ice skating never felt more dangerous.
