I think there's a good metaphor here for standing out or being yourself. There's a short window when all the huge fields of flowers bloom in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. I drove past a big field of these gold-orange flowers and noticed random specks of purple. I pulled over and saw this magnificent violet-colored flower sticking out in this row of the gold-orange flowers. I cropped this so it can scale down to a standard widescreen desktop background.

Traveling deep in the southern highlands of Papua New Guinea I found myself at this traditional festival. It was full of colour and celebration of culture. Different tribes across the region came dressed to represent their people. This man was a part of the Hulu tribe. It was interesting to see the vast difference’s of personalities across the different tribes. The Hulu tribe in particular was the most loud and aggressive of the tribes represented. I could feel the passion and love each tribe had for their people.
