After hours of rain and the most intimidating storm, the skies shortly cleared to illuminate this little hut in the nowhere of the Lofoten Islands.

The Lofoten Islands are extremely challenging to photograph. In one moment the view is clear, seconds later clouds have formed before your eyes and nothing other than a grey soup is to be seen.
This was one of the lucky moments you have to catch!

Sheer rock, wherever you are looking. A perfect day to attempt the exciting traverse of Germany's second highest mountain.

The reflections in this wild lake were unlike anything I've come across so far, a couple minutes later the rain disturbed the clear surface.

Not many fellow hikers are around the more remote parts of the Lofoten Islands, but being close to Reinebringen means company! I won't complain, sometimes landscape needs people to grasp the dimensions.

Days are already noticeably shorter now, but the result is beautiful light earlier in the day! Plus there’s fewer people around, the only people we had to share the area around the Watzmannhaus were two couples at a otherwise terribly overcrowded place. It may have been advantageous that the Watzmannhaus is closed due to repairs right now…

My favorite shot of all time was nothing but pure luck: I actually was fascinated by the layers the morning light created out of the surrounding mountains, but one of the many birds at the summit flew right into the shot, just as if it wanted to be in frame. At first I thought the lens was dirty, but then I realized I had been very lucky!

Even if the Lofoten mountains don’t even closely reach elevations like their brothers in the Alps, their vastness and power stands out even more. Towering straight out of the ocean they appear wilder and unreachable.
Only a few hours walk away from the main road wilderness surrounds the handfull of hikers out here.

Rising above the clouds is an unbelievable impression everytime again. This image was taken in the Bavarian Alps early last winter season on the first ski tour with my buddy Max after we walked through thickest fog. People were telling us the view was getting better on top, but we couldn’t believe it until we reached the summit ourselves. We were not disappointed.

In the middle of the “night” I woke up to the most beautiful light I have ever had the oppertunity to capture within a photograph. A scenery unimaginably vast and raw rounded off the impression and made it one of the most memorable moments of my trip.
Adding to the experience was another hiker who surprisingly hiked up the mountain late only to share the same view. I wonder what he’s doing now…I’d love to see the images he took that night!
