Kelly Searle

This photo was taken on a hilltop overlooking the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The model is a young artist who is very independent–I wanted to capture that in her. It’s rare you see someone so self-assured as a teenager, and I loved that she was a self-described feminist. The day was freezing, overcast, and super windy. I love how strong the model came across in this series.

This photo was taken of friends in Portland, OR in a for-fun collaboration focusing on gender fluidity. These two were a natural combo and complemented each other’s attitudes perfectly. It was shot in an industrial part of the city that hasn’t quite caught up with the city’s general open-mindedness. Our shoot was a fun way to introduce a different, raw, natural aesthetic to the scenery.

Alexandria Basso was my “muse” while I was working in LA 2015-2016. I did the hair, makeup and styling for this shoot for the cover of Liner Magazine’s first iPhone-only issue. Every editorial was shot on an iPhone around the world, and this one was super fun to play around with in terms of styling.

This photo was taken in the fall in the Columbia River Gorge near Oneanta Falls.
