After hiking in middle of nowhere Nova Scotia, we found this lovely lake.

Yes, this was taken on a film camera. 

I was laying on the tiniest beach of the Toronto Islands, on a cold summer day. The islands were flooded and I was hardly comfortable as my shoulders wrapped around the trunk of a tree on the beach.

If you've ever shot film with a mechanical camera, you know how hard it is to get the perfect composition with the ideal settings. And so as I unwrap my camera from across my chest and use whatever aptitude I had developed shooting film, I grab this shot of this one gull who trailed slowly behind his colony.

Not sure who made the sculpture or what it’s meant to express but it always makes me feel like I’m in a Black Mirror episode.

I’ve always loved Calgary for it’s endless and abundant sunny days. But not that weekend I visited. It was gloomy and dreary. An unexpected and uninvited few drops of rain made their way into the forecast too. I had to really shift my excitement towards acceptance of the gloom. 

I embraced it to say the least.

Was it really worth shaving my head just to save $40 on a haircut?

Although I look melancholic, I think it was an absolutely great idea. Bye bye well-pampered locks. Adios fancy shampoo. I love the freedom. Although I look like GESTALTA (IKEA’s wooden artist figure) when I’m in the nude, I still think it was worth it.

I find myself visiting the smelly but touristy Toronto Graffiti Alley often. I pass by this one dog every time who always happens to be there. I realized much later on this summer that he’s actually owned by a homeless man who lives in that same alley who helps the artists add more graffiti.
